Gospels of Odin
With a musical career spanning 4 decades Jay Ball - multi instrumentalist, song writer, guitarist and music producer - formally of 80’s UK Thrash Metal band ‘Manitou’ and 90’s UK Grunge band ‘Tribe’ and owner/director of the UK based ‘Jay Ball Guitar Academy’ - formed a new music project ‘Gospels of Odin’ in January 2024. Showcasing Jay Ball’s heaviest & most dynamic songwriting & production work to date, Gospels of Odin were created to become a serious contender in the heavy metal community.
Having bunkered down in the recording studio for 12 months in 2024, Jay wrote, recorded and produced over 40 brand new songs for Gospels of Odin.
Taking musical inspiration and influence from such epic giants as Arch Enemy, Slayer, Alice in Chains and Kublia Khan TX - amongst others, Jay recruited 15 year old son and super vocalist Levi Ball to co-write lyrics and showcase his incredible voice. Gospels of Odin became a father/son project.
On April 14th 2025 Gospels of Odin released 12 of those 40 songs on their debut album ‘God’s Eye’ Gospels of Odin are currently making serious waves in the heavy metal community.
‘God’s Eye’, is proving to be a fierce, authentic & powerful masterpiece - already receiving over 6000 streams in its first 21 days of release. Leading with the epic title track, “God’s Eye” - a ‘bang your head’ assault that captures the spirit of melodic death metal alongside intense & powerful vocals from 15 year old Levi Ball - the album delivers true Nordic spirit & standout tracks including the blistering “Rise of the Berserker”, “Killing Fields”, “Spellbinder” & “Alchemy” which surge with epic grandeur, & authentic Nordic soundscape.
The grinding, “Bone Crusher” brings metal to crushing heights, with epic vocals & intense riffs, while “War Messiah” delivers skull-rattling intensity, monstrous riffing & diverse melody.
Written, recorded & produced in its entirety by Jay Ball, ‘God’s Eye’ boasts haunting soundscapes, epic melodies, monstrous guitar riffs, thunderous bass lines & outrageous drums fused with detailed production, raw ‘metal’ grit & dark grooves, making this debut album both a powerful & unique heavy metal experience.
Two official music videos have subsequently been released from their debut album, ‘Paranoid’ - a brutal masterclass 2025 cover version of the iconic Black Sabbath 1970 single & ‘Spellbinder’ a haunting and beautiful soundscape of epic proportions.
Whether you're a devoted fan of multi talented musician Jay Ball’s 40 year musical career or discovering his sound for the first time, “God’s Eye” delivers the unrelenting energy, precision, and brutality that define the very definition of heavy metal, at its very best!
